A pay-what-you-want writing workshop where we’ll craft a bio that captures attention, makes you sound as cool as you are IRL, and gets you the gig.

(you’ll also get to make my sad Christmas birthday a little less boring)

What We’ll do…

1. The Craft

We’ll start with a mini craft lesson on the elements that make a bio compelling: specificity, detail (but not too much!) and psychic distance.
2. Writing

Then we’ll set a timer and WRITE A BIO! (You can also just edit your existing one.) No distractions, no breaks. We’re getting this done.
3. Workshop

One or two brave souls will share their bio with the group, and we’ll all collaborate to provide suggestions for tightening it up and making it sing.

You probably have SOMETHING you’ve written before, right? But no, you can start from scratch if you need to. You might not leave with a totally completed bio, but you’ll have a really great start and know exactly what you need to do to finish it.
Yes, there will, and it will be yours to keep 4eva.
LISTEN. Some people have summer birthdays, and they never got to have cupcakes at school, but it’s summer. Some people have December birthdays, but they’re before all the holidays, when everyone is feeling festive. And some of us exist in the no-man’s land that is the week between Dec. 25th and January 1st. Nobody’s around, everyone’s exhausted (including me), the weather sucks, and it’s lame. Yes, this workshop is absolutely what I want to do on my birthday.

I’ll be sending out some pre-work before the workshop to get you ready. But in the meantime, think about what you want to be known for, what professional accomplishments you have that you can brag about, and what frustrates you the most about writing your bio.
